1. Preventing transmission
The section on PREVENTING TRANSMISSION includes information on key public health measures that aim to prevent the further spread of the disease. It details how countries are advising the general public and people who (might) have the disease to prevent further spread, as well as measures in place to test and identify cases, trace contacts, and monitor the scale of the outbreak.
1.1 Health communication
The government released comprehensive information to the public on the new virus in early February. Official advice for travelers and health professionals on Covid19 was issued end of January. Official advice and recommendations for the general public were released end of February. All information is published on the website of the Ministry of Health and the Health Directorate and on a specific page for COVID-19 of the Ministry of Health (https://coronavirus.gouvernement.lu/fr.html). The specific website continuously provides information and guidelines on the Covid-19 outbreak’s severity, measures taken to combat its spread and health related information such as recommendations on symptoms, ways of transmission, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, physical distancing, as well as how to seek care. The Government, the Minister of Health and other Ministers regularly hold press conferences to inform the public about current developments and measures taken.
