The section on PREVENTING TRANSMISSION includes information on key public health measures that aim to prevent the further spread of the disease. It details how countries are advising the general public and people who (might) have the disease to prevent further spread, as well as measures in place to test and identify cases, trace contacts, and monitor the scale of the outbreak.

1.1 Health communication

Beginning on 23 February, the National Health System (Istituto Sicurezza Sociale-ISS) has issued several guidelines for professionals and citizens about hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, physical distancing.
The Health Emergency Group delivers information and updates to the public during a daily press conference.
A team trained in communication is responsible for designing and implementing the communication strategy for both traditional and social media. Communication personnel participate at response coordination meetings. The communication team provides rapid clearance of timely and transparent communication messaging and materials to the public.
